Why we built R.C.P

launchproduct

If you run a Rust Console Edition server, you already know the situation: there’s no SSH, no Oxide, no plugin ecosystem. You get G-Portal’s web UI (which works), a handful of F1-console commands, and that’s about it. Try to do anything beyond banning players and changing wipe schedules — anything resembling what PC server admins take for granted — and you’re stuck.

So we built R.C.P.

The situation

Console-edition servers are a different beast. There’s no oxide.load CasinoPlugin. No pm2 restart bot. No SSH at all. Most “admin tools” for RCE boil down to:

  • A Discord bot someone hosts on their gaming PC, dying every time the PC reboots
  • A shared spreadsheet of player Steam IDs
  • One person who remembers everyone’s nickname and tracks kit cooldowns by hand

This works for a 5-player private server. It does not work for a 100-player wipe with kits, shops, and a casino.

What we wanted

A proper product, not a Discord bot. Not a “self-host this Docker container if you know what you’re doing.” Something where:

  • You sign up, paste your RCON credentials, and it just runs
  • The bot stays alive when your PC sleeps — because that’s our problem, not yours
  • Players link Discord in two button presses (not 6-digit codes typed on a controller)
  • Kits, shop, casino, ZORP — real features with real backends, not mockups

What’s in v1

After three months of work, we shipped:

  • Multi-server admin portal — add unlimited servers under one account
  • 15 minigames plus a full casino (Wheel, Blackjack, Roulette) — 18 games in total
  • Discord-linked economy with RCP coins, daily bonuses, leaderboards
  • Live shop with auto-delivery via RCON
  • ZORP zones triggered by in-game quick-chat emote
  • SRP (Server Raid Protection) master toggle
  • Custom broadcasts for everything: welcome, kill feed, events, jackpots
  • Interactive map with real Rust grid labels (A0..AD29)
  • Per-wipe leaderboards with CSV export

It’s not done. The roadmap has another year of features. But what’s there works, today, in production.

What’s next

  • Custom event creator — design your own in-game events
  • Live map with players — colour-coded per team (coming soon)
  • More minigames
  • Your ideas — players and admins can submit feature ideas at /ideas
